Your account

HVAC Newsroom stores your email, display name, a salted password hash, and session records. Your password is never stored as readable text. We also store the role, topics, membership interest and stories you choose to save. Email addresses are not verified yet and are not used to grant privileged access.

Your choices

Reading is public. Account features are optional. You can clear your profile and reading list in your account. This currently leaves your login account in place. Password recovery by email is not yet available; keep your password in a password manager.

Cookies and hosting

A secure session cookie keeps you signed in. Hosting infrastructure processes technical information needed to operate and protect the service. We do not place advertising trackers in this app. Security counters limit repeated login attempts.

Product analytics

On hvacnewsroom.com, we use Mixpanel to understand which articles are useful and where readers have trouble using the app. We measure visits, article viewing and reading progress, account-flow outcomes, saved stories, reactions, comment counts, searches and membership interest. Search measurements include query length and result count, not what you type. We use a randomly generated browser identifier stored in your browser; it is not linked to your account or used to identify you across devices. We collect coarse device categories and referring website domains, but not full referring links, query strings or campaign tags. We do not send names, email addresses, passwords, comment text or search text to Mixpanel, and we do not record sessions. IP-based geolocation is disabled. Like any service receiving browser requests, Mixpanel processes connection information needed to receive them. You can turn off this optional analytics below; the app still works.
